Minimum Salary Is Within Selangor State Government Means

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the move to implement the RM1,500 minimum salary for employees of government-owned companies was made within the state government’s means.

He said this when winding up the debate on the 2012 Budget in the State Assembly today.

When tabling the Budget recently, Abdul Khalid said the minimum salary for the state government-linked companies would be carried out next year.

He said it was aimed at encouraging the companies to conduct training programmes to enhance the skills of their workers.

He also denied claims by opposition members in the State Assembly that the state government was discriminating the state public servants by implementing the minimum salary only for employees of the GLCs. — BERNAMA
